Victory as ONS retains same-sex marriage statistics

The Office for National Statistics has backtracked on a plan to combine traditional and same-sex married couple populations in their statistical releases.

Had it been successful, the change would have meant that it would be impossible to measure the differences in duration between marriage types and hold Government policy to account.

As a result of submissions from the Coalition for Marriage [available here] and other groups, the ONS now says it will continue to separate estimates of the number of people married by type.

It is highly encouraging to see that our submissions can make a difference, particularly at a time when many supporters are responding to the call for evidence in education.

Call for Evidence in RSE and PSHE

The deadline for responses to the Department for Education’s call for evidence in Relationships and Sex Education and PSHE in England is Monday 12th February.
