The most moving pro-family ad of all time?
There are moments when the beauty of ordinary family life catches us off guard. In a 3 minute 45 second advert that has quickly received millions of views across social media, carmaker Volvo has stunned the internet. With what some are calling “the most moving, pro-family, pro-life car ad of all time”, it may make you cry.
Meanwhile, carmaker Jaguar released its latest “Copy nothing” rebrand at its Gaydon HQ, on Armistice Day. Featuring flamboyant, androgynous characters dancing around in brightly coloured costumes – but no cars – the ad and rebrand have been roundly condemned by the media with one trade publication calling it a “Hallucinogenic sci-fi movie”. A kaleidoscope of distractions, leaving viewers bewildered instead of inspired.
What is it that truly endures? Why are some companies still pandering to minority groups while others recognise that real meaning and value comes from enduring truth – not fads? Family, generations, the hope of children, the trembling joy of parenting and watching those you would die for, making their own lives and loves. These are the things that endure. These are the rich, endless seams of value running through the mines of human experience.
At C4M we stand for real marriage. Yes, our liberal democracy permits all manner of things to take place between consenting adults. But the things we should celebrate and promote – to ourselves and to our children – are those things that we know will cause our nation to thrive: the lifelong exclusive union of one man and one woman.
Let’s make a stand for what endures. Let’s stand for real marriage.
