‘I AM FEMALE’ – LIBBY SAVED FROM GENDER IDEOLOGY
Amidst the passions that dominate the trans debate, it can be easy to forget the human impact that gender ideology can have on vulnerable young people. That is why I am delighted to share an interview recorded quite some time ago with Libby Littlewood, who experienced first-hand the impact of gender ideology. You can listen to Libby’s moving story here.
As a teenager, Libby underwent hormone replacement therapy, spending several years ‘living as a man’ before detransitioning later on. Libby tells me how her struggle with her own identity was met with external assurances that she needed to transition.
Libby says she only ever received confirmation that she was transgender. Nobody ever questioned her ‘gender identity’, despite the fact she had experienced significant difficulties in her life.
Libby now emphasises the critical role of biological sex in defining ‘gender identity’. She challenges the idea of ‘masculine women’ and ‘feminine men’. She points out that it is not the fact that you are ‘feminine’ that makes you a woman, but rather that if you are a woman you are, by definition, ‘feminine’.
Libby courageously speaks out against so-called affirmative care: “The first time I went to the NHS for therapy, they’d told me, ‘let’s make you comfortable with the idea that you’re a man in a woman’s body.’”
Libby’s testimony is a powerful reminder of the influence that external factors, like the internet and the NHS, can have on vulnerable young people’s lives.
At C4M, we know that the nature of man and woman are immutable. Removing this fundamental understanding from the definition of marriage has led directly to the gender confusion we have in society today. It is more important than ever that we promote and support the truth about real marriage and its unique benefits to all.
