MATT’S METHOD IS SAVING MARRIAGES WORLDWIDE!

Jan 11, 2025

It was such an encouragement speaking with Matt Loehr, the founder of a 20-year ministry dedicated to strengthening marriages. Matt has developed a unique method of marriage mentoring, centred on couples helping other couples over a 12-week period. This approach, which has already trained an incredible 80,000 mentors across 15 countries, combines practical tools with biblical principles to transform relationships. To hear Matt’s inspiring insights and learn more about his work, watch the full interview on our YouTube channel here.

Matt’s journey began when he recognised the devastating impact of broken homes on children. Determined to make a difference, he left a thriving engineering career to create a mentoring system that addresses core issues in marriages. His method is distinct in several ways: “It’s couple helping couple,” ensuring both husband and wife feel represented. The programme also employs a visual guide, called “rounding the bases,” which provides a clear, step-by-step framework for addressing conflicts. As Matt puts it, “Once you learn how to do it, you can take on all issues.”

Key to the programme’s success is its focus on the heart. Matt explains, “Behind our behaviour is really a heart problem,” and his mentoring approach identifies and resolves these underlying issues. The method’s biblical foundation and emphasis on compromise and unity have brought about countless “miracles” in relationships.

The ministry offers two main services: marriage classes, suitable for broader groups, and more intensive one-on-one mentoring sessions. Couples begin with a detailed assessment, pinpointing areas of health and conflict. This personalised approach ensures the mentoring process addresses their specific struggles. “Your pain, your anguish, your conflict—that’s our agenda,” Matt explains.

Churches of any size can adopt this programme, training laypeople as mentors to support both their congregation and the wider community. Matt highlights the powerful outreach potential: “Many people are starting to come to churches because that’s where they’re getting help with their family issues.”

At C4M, we champion the transformative power of lifelong, one-man one-woman marriage. Stories like Matt’s underline why marriage matters so deeply. Watch the full interview to discover how his innovative approach is changing lives. Together, let’s continue to promote and protect real marriage.
