PARENTS: BE CONCERNED, GET INVOLVED – STEVE BEEGOO

Oct 19, 2024

Teaching around sex and relationships in schools is changing rapidly – and not necessarily for the better. Parents have every right to know what is being taught and to make their views known to the school. We strongly encourage them to do so, in a non-confrontational manner.

Recently, we raised concerns about children identifying as wolves and furries in schools. So, I spoke with Steve Beegoo, Head of Education at Christian Concern. We discussed guidance on addressing these issues. The video is available here.

Steve warns of a trend where schools have been teaching about “homosexual relationships, being transgender” and questioning sexuality from young ages, often using explicit materials. He urges parents to engage with schools, as many teachers feel constrained about promoting traditional relationships. Indoctrination around LGBT activity is seeping into all areas of the curriculum, making vigilance essential.

We discussed the principle that parents are the primary educators of their children. Steve encourages parents to “ask your children about what they are being taught” and to explain what they believe. He urges alertness, especially during LGBT History Month or Pride Month.

Steve advises parents to raise concerns informally with the school first. If needed, they can pursue a formal complaint using the school’s complaints policy. “If they’re not showing you the curriculum, there’s a reason why.” If informal steps fail, parents can involve school governors.

At C4M, we continue to stand for the truth about real marriage and its positive impact on society. It is crucial that parents actively get involved. As Steve says, “if you’re not teaching your children about these things, somebody else will be”.
